Community Care dementia campaign wins early backing

Community Care’s campaign to put dementia at the heart of the election has won the backing of a number of social care bodies following its launch yesterday.

Charities Carers UK and for dementia have offered their support for our Dementia Declaration, while the United Kingdom Homecare Association has also signed up.

The declaration reads:

“We demand a full debate on the issue of dementia during the general election campaign, recognising the increasing numbers of people with the disorder and the need to make improving their care an explicit priority when allocating resources in future.”

Colin Angel, head of policy and communication at the UKHCA, said: “This campaign highlights the importance of adequate resources for people with dementia, which is a crucial part of the wider debate on the funding effective, dignified, social care services for the future.”
