Children and Young People Services

Open session for providers of Residential Short Break Care for disabled children and young people

Cambridgeshire County Council, as the Local Authority for the county of Cambridgeshire carries out the provision of a Residential Short Break Care Service for children and young people with disabilities. The County Council intends to work in partnership with NHS Cambridgeshire to provide an integrated care model that meets both the social and health care needs of children and young people with disabilities. This model will be implemented within two existing Short Break Homes.

In partnership Cambridgeshire County Council and the NHS Cambridgeshire wish to identify suppliers who are able to provide social care and/or health care provision. This service will be carried out on their behalf to requisite standards and within a defined budget. At this preliminary stage of the process, it wishes to invite potential suppliers to an open session to discuss the opportunity and requirements of the provision.

The overall purpose for both partners at this stage is to gather a view on the market of suppliers to ensure that this is a viable way forward for the delivery of the Residential Short Break Care Service as part of its consideration to enter a formal tendering process. It also wishes to offer the opportunity for potential suppliers to provide a challenge in terms of its expectations for standards and costs of delivery.

The objectives of this session are therefore to:

• share the context and background to this initiative
• provide an overview of the children and young people’s needs
• provide an overview of current service provision
• provide an indicative financial envelope

We see this as a real opportunity for suppliers to work with us to develop new ways of delivery to meet the present and future needs of Cambridgeshire children and young people.

The meeting will be held at the Ramparts, Bailey Rooms, Shire Hall, Cambridge, CB3 0AP. on Monday 1st November 2010 at 3.15 p.m.

Please register in advance your intention to attend before 4.00 p.m. Friday 29th of October 2010.
