Care home worker suspended for having drugs at work

A care home worker in Scotland has been suspended after allegations of possessing illegal drugs at work.

A care home worker in Scotland has been suspended after allegations of possessing illegal drugs at work.

Police were called to the Pitkerro Care Centre, Dundee, to investigate the claims last week.

It is understood the employee in question was not directly responsible for providing care.

The incident has been reported to Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland (SCSWIS), formerly the Care Commission.

SCSWIS inspection programme manager Lawrie Davidson said: “Our understanding is that this was an ancillary worker who was not directly responsible for providing care to service users. We are satisfied that [the provider] has taken the correct steps to deal with this matter.

“SCSWIS is working closely with the provider and we will keep this issue under review.”
