Disability web forum to be reinstated after talks with Atos

The Carer Watch discussion forum is to be reinstated after the campaign group reached an agreement with Atos Healthcare regarding allegedly libellous posts about the disability assessment company.

The Carer Watch discussion forum is likely to be reinstated after talks between the campaign group and Atos Healthcare regarding allegedly libellous posts about the disability assessment company.

The site’s host company removed the forum after Atos issued a threat to take legal action over certain posts. Carer Watch said this had caused “distress and fear” for disabled users of the forum, and that it had not been told which posts had triggered Atos’s threat.

However, in a statement today, Atos said: “We acknowledge that the closure of the forum has caused unnecessary concern for Carer Watch members and would like to assure you that this was never our intention. Our request was that the libellous content relating to Atos Healthcare and our employees be taken down in order to protect the reputation of our employees and company against the false and malicious allegations that were posted. We fully support the right of people to express their opinions and intend to work with Carer Watch to ensure the site is reinstated as soon as possible.”

Community Care understand that the matter is not fully resolved but that talks are taking place between Atos and Carer Watch to reach an agreement.
