A unique training and development event to bring together the cream of children’s social care from the South of England

Hampshire County Council is delighted to host the inaugural Social Work in the South event – a free recruitment and professional development event on 8 November 2018, with the support of Community Care.

Social Work in the South, which will include exhibiting local authorities from all over the south, as well as children’s charities and suppliers to the field, seeks to bring together both training and qualified children’s social workers, to share and discuss the latest innovative approaches being developed in social care practice.

Delegates in attendance at the event will have the unique opportunity to hear from expert speakers, including the UK’s Chief Social Worker for Children and Families, Isabelle Trowler. With a tailored programme of events designed to offer something to practitioners at all stages of their careers, the event has been set up to spark conversations between peers and colleagues about the methodologies and practices happening in social work across the south.

Additional speakers include Kathy Marriott, Anna Glinski, Community Care, Professor David Shemmings and the British Association of Social Workers, who will be discussing a vast range of topical subjects, including sexual abuse, neglect, legal proceedings and participation in young people.

The event, the first of its kind to be hosted in the south of England, will take place in the stunning setting of the Guildhall Winchester from 10am – 4.30pm, with refreshments and lunch available. For those wanting to make the most of their trip, the City Centre of Winchester boasts a vast array of restaurants, bars, and heritage sites to enjoy after the event.
