The National Probation Service has launched a recruitment drive to attract 560 offender managers.
Entrants from across England and Wales will undertake a two-year training programme after which they will manage offenders in the community.
Home Office minister Gary Sutcliffe said: “It’s not a job that anyone can do. A probation officer must feel confident in dealing with some of the most difficult people our society produces.”
