A charity based at Heathrow Airport is to work with UK consulates overseas to help Britons who are forced to return to the UK for social care.
A former social worker will start as repatriation officer at Heathrow Travelcare next month to plan the return of Britons, including a growing number of older people returning for care for conditions such as dementia.
The government is also working on plans to inform people who choose to retire to countries such as Spain that they must plan properly for old age.
