While social care commissioning is “in its infancy”, health commissioning is “embryonic”, a care provider leader said yesterday.
English Community Care Association chief executive Martin Green told a Commission for Social Care Inspection conference there was much the NHS could learn from councils about commissioning despite local authorities’ deficiencies in this area.
Green said: “In health they have chucked money at systems and not understood what they wanted from those systems or how to assess them.”
