Two new members of GSCC appointed

The General Social Care Council has appointed two additional
members to widen its background and expertise.

Malcolm Jordan is a qualified social worker with 30 years
experience, who was a deputy director in Lancashire from
1978-87.

He was director of a residential school for children with severe
learning difficulties, and for the past 12 years has worked as an
in independent consultant in social care.

Jordan has declared no political activity and has been appointed
to the council for two years.

Lay member Melanie Henwood is a self-employed health and social
care analyst and is the author of a number of papers, including
last year’s King’s Fund report on the National Care and
Support Inquiry.

She is also an advisor to the Joseph Rowntree Fund’s older
people’s committee.

Henwood, who declared political activity on behalf of the Labour
Party, has been appointed to the GSCC for four years.
