Community Care’s events programme comprises Community Care Live, our webinar series and face-to-face masterclasses.

Community Care Live

Our annual event provides social workers and other social care practitioners with free learning, the chance to connect with fellow professionals and a wealth of opportunities to explore with employers, learning organisations and providers.

The 2024 event took place from 8-9 October at the Business Design Centre in London, encompassing two full days of essential learning and networking.

Webinars

We also run a series of webinars, designed to support social workers and other practitioners stay up to speed with key areas of practice.

Masterclasses

Alongside Community Care Live and our webinar series, we also run one-day, in-person masterclasses on key topics in social care.

Our next masterclass is on adult safeguarding and will take place on 28 March 2025 at etc.venues, Manchester.

Adult safeguarding can raise significant legal and ethical dilemmas, sometimes in circumstances where the stakes for the adult concerned are high.

It is important for practitioners to be confident in the way they understand and apply the law when it comes to adult safeguarding, and our legal masterclass will help you achieve this.

The day’s sessions will examine:

• The legal framework surrounding adult safeguarding.
• Lessons for practice from the second national analysis of safeguarding adult reviews.
• What the inherent jurisdiction of the High Court can and cannot do in relation to safeguarding adults.
• The challenges that arise when assessing capacity in safeguarding cases.
• The law around safeguarding referrals that feature self-neglect and hoarding.
