Readers voice doubts over child protection system

Community Care readers are evenly split over whether the child
    protection system needs fundamental reform.

Following the announcement of Lord Laming’s public inquiry into
the death of Victoria Climbie, 52 per cent think that the child
protection system needs fundamental reform, according to last
    week’s poll.

This week’s question asks: Is it right for the government to
shift resources away from local authorities in the South East in
    favour of northern councils?

Leaders of councils in the South East have urged the government
not to change the system to divert resources to the north of
    England.
