Targets dropped over acute bias

The Healthcare Commission has dropped 472 targets from draft
proposals to reform health regulation after opposition. Mental
health trusts had described the targets as weighted towards the
acute sector.

Its new assessment system, published last week, does not include
the targets, which had been designed to help trusts measure their
progress against core tandards.
