Children trafficked into London

Around 100 children are trafficked into London each week, the Metropolitan Police have said.

A pilot scheme led by immigration officers and police to monitor unaccompanied children flying to Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester has now begun and will run until 28 January.

A police spokesperson said: “There is general agreement amongst safeguarding children practitioners that most children exploited through trafficking remain isolated and undetected. “
