Key witness to give evidence at Gareth Myatt inquest today

The man responsible for monitoring the use of physical restraint at Rainsbrook Secure Training Centre at the time of Gareth Myatt’s death is due to give evidence at his inquest today.

David Tuck, who worked as a Youth Justice Board monitor at Rainsbrook from May 1999 to July 2004, was responsible for inspecting the STC’s restraint records and ensuring correct procedures were followed.

Gareth died aged 15 in April 2004 while being restrained by three officers at Rainsbrook. The hearing, at the Rushden and Diamond conference centre, Irthlingborough, Northamptonshire, continues.
