An Invitation to the House of Lords for a key health and social care policy event
Monday 11th June 2012
3.30 – 5.00pm

The Adam Smith Institute and LCS International take great pleasure in inviting you to join us on Monday 11th June in the Cholmondeley Room in the House of Lords, overlooking the Thames, for the third of three key summer policy events in our health and social care calendar.

We have 4 confirmed speakers for the event: – Lord Norman Warner (former Minister of State, DoH and Chair of the Dilnot Commission on long term care funding); Dr Sarah Wollaston MP, Member of Health Committee, House of Commons, Andrew Taylor, COO McKesson (and former CEO of the Co-operation and Competition Panel) and David Colin-Thome. We anticipate discussions on the day around:

  • The outlook for the sector following the enactment of the health and social care legislation in March this year.
  • The Coalition Government’s proposals for rationalising regulations for Care of the Elderly, and persons with learning disabilities and mental illness, following the work of the Law Commission in 2009-2010.
  • Possible changes in the funding of long-term care, that will not only address inadvertent bias in the system and difficulties faced by people who are asset rich but income poor, but also how the government will encourage insurers to enter into the sector.

Lord Clement-Jones, CBE will host this event. Afternoon tea will be served, on the terrace if weather permits. We will be delighted if you can join us.

The price for this event is £60 + VAT per attendee. To book please call LCS International on 020 7291 4427 or email us at info@lcsic.com

If you would like more details on the whole programme please go to the LCS website.

Our annual Health and Social Care Conference will be held this year on Thursday 8th November at One Birdcage Walk in Westminster.
