VAT removed

Suppliers of home care services are to be relieved of the burden
of VAT for care assistants.

Lucianne Sawyer, president of the UK Home Care Association, said
it was a huge breakthrough, and added that because the law had not
been changed, care providers would have to fit in with regulations.
So agencies would have to have a medically trained supervisor for
care assistants.

Many providers have avoided VAT by acting as agents. This meant
they could not supervise the work directly.
