Independent living schemes, listening to disabled people’s
views, and creative solutions to meet their needs will improve
services, according to the King’s Fund.
Independent living is explained in Commissioning Independent
Living, which also provides a strategy for commissioning and
financing these schemes. Evaluating Community Care argues changes
will only happen when agencies act on disabled people’s
assessments.
The third report, Beyond Samosas And Reggae, urges commissioners
to take account of the health and social care needs of black
disabled people and provide flexible services.
