A worker, calling himself a social worker in a care management
team, has written in with an A-Z of positive thinking in community
care. For those weighed down by slashed budgets and under attack
from disillusioned users, here is a taste of one person’s
optimistic approach to community care. Thanks to John Davies from
Clwyd social services office in Colwyn Bay (facing the upheaval of
local government reorganisation as well).
A is for autonomy and not autocratic attitudes;
B is for budget holders and not for budget capping;
C is for courage (especially on formulating care plans) and not
for crass – too much of this already;
D is for daring and not for deceiving (DSS especially);
E is for eligibility criteria and not for egotism;
F is for feedback and certainly not for the future, and
finally;
Z is for zeal in carrying out duties relating to the Community
Care Act and not zero attitude.
