Merge inspection bodies say doctors

The Commission for Health Improvement and the
National Care Standards Commission should merge to create a single
health care inspectorate, says the British Medical Association.

The organisation claims a single inspectorate
would ensure consistent standards across the NHS, private and
voluntary sectors.

The BMA also claims the move would help
streamline inspection procedures and avoid the need for multiple
visits and inspections.

A Department of Health spokesperson said: “The
BMA has raised some valid points and we will look at the
recommendations.”
