Play facilities should cater for disabled children government says

Play facilities for disabled children should be improved
guidance issued by the government will urge.

The guidelines follow discussions with MP Adrian Sanders, who
was planning to introduce a private members bill to encourage play
facilities for children with disabilities.

Local government minister Alan Whitehead said: “We will
introduce new specific best practice guidance which will set out in
clear terms what we expect local authorities and other bodies to
consider when making or improving play area provision.

“By explaining to organisations in detail what they have to do
under existing legislation and how best to fulfil these duties, we
can help ensure that disabled children can enjoy local play areas
in the same way as all other children,” he said.
