The Scottish executive has launched a nation-wide consultation
on a series of proposals designed to improve the support for
homeless people.
The executive is consulting on the 59 recommendations of the
homelessness taskforce published in February.
Of the main recommendations, all of which were accepted by the
executive, is the redefining of what is deemed to be intentional
homelessness, the ability for homeless people to qualify for
housing in a variety of councils and abolishing the concept of
priority need to replace it with an equal right for assistance for
every homeless person.
Following the consultation process those aspects supported will
be contained within a Homelessness Bill to be introduced later this
year.
