Local authorities Newcastle offers pay incentives

Senior managers at Newcastle Council, including social services
director Tom Dervin, will be able to boost their earnings through a
performance-related pay scheme.

Senior managers, who currently have a top salary of £79,467,
could now take home £92,124 if they attain high levels of
performance.

Their basic salary will remain the same but they can earn 15 per
cent more by hitting corporate and strategic targets.

The council says managers’ performance will be judged by “all the
methods of local government scrutiny, including results in joint
reviews”.
