Partnership boards failing older carers

Learning disability partnership boards are struggling to identify
the needs of older family carers of people with learning
difficulties.

Research covering more than 70 partnership boards has found that
fewer than half know how many people with learning difficulties
live at home with a family carer aged 70 or over. Without this
knowledge, it is impossible to see how boards can meet the Valuing
People target of ensuring all older family carers over 70 have an
agreed plan on how to meet future needs.

The study was carried out by the Foundation for People with
Learning Disabilities.
