Inspectors criticise Connexions partnership

Milton Keynes, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Connexions
partnership does not provide satisfactory value for money and has
failed to monitor young people’s progress effectively, according to
a new Ofsted report, writes Amy
Taylor.

Inspectors found that progress in the partnership was slow, and
that many young people in the area were unaware of the services it
offered.

They added that youth participation in the partnership’s
development was patchy, and called for improvements to arrangements
for the supervision, appraisal and training of personal
advisers.

However, the report found that the partnership had been
successful in ensuring effective support at key transitional points
in young people’s lives, and in providing opportunities for them to
increase their self-confidence and motivation.
