Green paper on children due to be published

The government’s long awaited children’s green paper
is to be published in September.

The paper is the government’s response to the Victoria
Climbie Report.

Early indications are that the paper will propose a
children’s commissioner to champion children and young
people’s rights.

Also to address the problems of interagency working that
occurred in the Victoria Climbie case, professionals working with
children will have more common training and protocols.

Some of the reforms have already been in place with Margaret
Hodge going to the Department  for Education and Skills as the
children’s minister.

Community Care will be offering a comprehensive online news and
analysis of the paper when it comes out.

more.

News of the main points from the green paper will also be sent
to everyone who receives Community Care’s e-shot bulletin
“snapshot”. Ensure you don’t miss out by sending
a request e-mail to Daniel.Leon@rbi.co.uk
