Chlamydia screening extended

Chlamydia screening for young women is to be extended to 16 new
areas covering 50 primary care trusts.

The country’s most common sexually transmitted infection
affects one in 10, and can cause pelvic inflammatory disease,
ectopic pregnancy and infertility if it’s not treated. The
screening programme, which will cover a quarter of English PCTs
will target women under 25.
