The Family Rights Group charity officially launched its advocacy
service for parents involved in child protection proceedings this
week.
The London-wide service, which has been running since October, has
already received about 40 referrals, most of which have come from
its helpline.
All the advocates working for the three-year £500,000
programme are former social workers or lawyers.
Advice and advocacy manager Sue Murray said the service was needed
to help parents through parts of the child protection process,
including case conferences.
“The service is designed to help parents be more participative in
the process which can often feel like it is being imposed on
them.”
