Mental health charities slam Asbo case

Mental health charities have slammed the case of a suicidal woman
who has been given an antisocial behaviour order banning her from
places where she could potentially take her own life.

Kim Sutton has been given an asbo banning her from rivers, bridges
and multi-storey car parks by magistrates in Bath, Somerset, after
being rescued from the same river three times.

Chair of the bench Pamela Gwyther told Sutton: “You are not
to dip one toe, not one finger, in a river or canal.”

Sutton from Bath will face a jail sentence if she breaches the
order.

Sane chief executive Marjorie Wallace said: “An Asbo could
make a person even more determined to go through with a suicide
attempt.”
