High Court rejects confidentiality bid

A documentary about a psychiatric patient who has a personality
disorder is to be screened following a landmark High Court ruling
upholding the patient’s right to freedom of expression.

St Helens Council and the Official Solicitor sought an injunction
preventing the details of the life of Pamela Edwards, 32, from
being publicised, arguing that she did not have the capacity to
consent.

But in a High Court ruling last week Edwards was given the right to
freedom of expression and Channel 4 permission to air the
programme.
