Band aid hit by ‘pinging’ children

A primary school has banned its pupils from wearing charity
wristbands arguing that they can lead to misbehaviour in
class.

Glen Dawson, head teacher at Langcraigs primary school in Paisley,
Scotland, said that the bands, which promote good causes such as
cancer charity The Lance Armstrong Foundation, were distracting
pupils.

Dawson added that teachers had complained to her that some children
were fiddling with the bands and “pinging” them at each other
rather than getting on with their school work.

She said that while she was grateful that the children were giving
money to charities she had asked them only to wear the wristbands
out of school from now on.
