Lack of placements blocks resettlement

The youth justice system is failing to meet the resettlement needs
of young people, a report finds.

The study by young people’s charities and government agencies says
there are not enough suitable training placements.

The lack of substance misuse and mental health services is also a
problem, states the report, written as part of the “planned
resettlement into sustainable employment” project, which aims to
improve resettlement in three areas of the country.

Resettlement would be made easier if young people were placed in
smaller accommodation units, it adds.
