 STAR RATING: 4/5

This is a must-have for adults working with vulnerable adults who are suspected of committing a criminal offence, and is an effective and well thought out training pack, writes Steve Tilney

It is broken into eight easy-to-read sections: setting the scene, who are we talking about, prosecuting or treatment, the criminal justice system and mentally disordered offenders, equality and diversity, information sharing, risk assessment and risk damage, and multi-agency working.

Each section includes key learning points at the start, a student exercise with briefing notes, and a review note at the end of each section for the instructor.

The pack is well presented with margin notes, and its appendices contain a wealth of information and further resources.

There is a suggested timetable, but this is constructed in modular format to allow users to prepare their own course depending upon their audience and the amount of time available.

Steve Tilney is an advanced interview trainer with the Metropolitan Police
