Education to lose separate rating

This year’s annual performance assessment of children’s services is not expected to contain a separate rating for education.

Ofsted guidance to councils on 2006 arrangements for the assessment, which is not yet in the public domain, is also believed to state that there will continue to be a separate rating for children’s social care.

The unified assessment of education and children’s social care produced by the performance assessment is expected to continue in 2006.
