Government sets up review of sector

The government is to review the future of the voluntary sector for the first time since a study in 2002.

The review, announced with the Budget this week, is likely to look at the main issues facing the sector over the next 10 years, including the impact of demographic changes and the ageing population.

Jonathan Bland, chief executive of the Social Enterprise Coalition, said the review would examine the “big questions” facing the sector.

The review will feed into the 2007 comprehensive spending review.
