The government is to consult on revising guidance on distinguishing supported housing from residential care.
The Department of Health wrote to stakeholders last Friday proposing a review of the Supported Housing and Care Home guidance, which was last issued in August 2002.
It said this would take into account the introduction of Supporting People in 2003 and a 2005 ruling in which learning difficulties charity Alternative Futures was prevented from deregistering a number of care homes to give residents secured tenancies.
The DH will begin consulting early next year.
