Older people should have the right to access independent advice on their long-term care options and the means of funding them, a Counsel and Care paper on care funding says today.
Fit for the Future sets out options for reforming the “patchy, inequitable and costly” long-term care system, saying next year’s comprehensive spending review is a crucial opportunity to reform it.
Echoing the calls of local government, health and other voluntary sector leaders, it demands a fundamental debate on the respective contributions of the state and individuals to funding care.
