Skills for Care has created an interactive career pathways e-tool for people considering starting in social care and those already working in the sector who are keen to see what their career development opportunities might be.

The pages use text and video to explain “what is social care”, “starting in social care” and “developing your career”.

Under “developing your career” the interactive career pathways allows individuals to identify their particular social care interests to find what roles there are and see what range of qualifications are needed for those roles. You can search by job tile, qualification or job role/level.

The pathways tool also includes case studies, job descriptions and contacts for more information, as well as links to a variety of other social care information websites.

The e-tool has recently been refreshed to include new qualifications on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF), as well as adding new case studies.
