The five main political parties in England and Wales revealed their manifestos this week, outlining their plans for the country if they are elected to govern on 7 May.

Although they aren’t bursting at the seams with social care and social work related policy – our count has six mentions of ‘social work’ or ‘social workers’ across all five manifestos – there are still plenty of proposals detailing where each party could take the profession and care for the vulnerable if they make it into government.

You can read more detail about their policies in the full stories published on Community Care, but for brevity here’s a simple breakdown of each parties’ biggest and most eye-catching plans for social care and social work.

Whilst I believe social care could benefit from funding from a Labour government, I also believe they could bankrupt the country again. And they would likely need the SNP. Does anyone believe they give a stuff about anyone outside of Scotland?
