People who commit benefit fraud could be caught by new lie-detection technology, the work and pensions secretary John Hutton said today.
The Voice Risk Analysis technology, which is already used in the insurance industry, will enable benefit staff to measure changes in a caller’s voice on the phone and identify suspect cases.
The system will be piloted by Harrow Council for reviews of housing benefit and council tax claims, and JobCentre Plus is to test it later in the year.
