Public sector employers set out compact on joint working

Leading personnel officers in local government and the NHS have
agreed to work together to address major workplace issues in the
public sector.

The Society of Chief Personnel Officers in Local Government
(Socpo) and the Association of Healthcare Human Resource Managers
will develop a joint working compact and action plan next year.

The decision reflects the increase in joint working between
local government and the NHS, particularly in the field of social
services, following government demands for joined-up services.

The two organisations plan to work together on issues such as
continuous professional development, benchmarking, publications and
staff secondments.

Socpo has already started admitting members who have transferred
from the public sector to private sector providers as part of Best
Value reviews of local council services.
