Health authorities seek legal help over long term care challenges

A number of strategic health authorities are seeking legal
advice over their position in relation to the health service
ombudsman’s findings that thousands of people have been incorrectly
made to pay for their long term care.

All strategic health authorities were required to report on how
many people would be eligible to be reimbursed to the department of
health in March, and have been given until the end of May to get
legal advice on their situation.

The government is set to review the 2001 national guidance on
continuing care in June.
