Disabled group set to influence policy

A new advisory group of disabled people has been created to work with the government on policy making. It will also help to create a national forum representing the interests of disabled people.

Alun Davies, an adult care planning manager at North Somerset Council, and Bruce Calderwood, director of the Office for Disability Issues, will chair the advisory group.

The creation of a national forum for disabled people was recommended in the government’s Improving the Life Chances of Disabled People report, published in January 2005.
