    the London Borough of Islington.
     

    Who has had the biggest influence on you?
    My carers.

    Which health or social care professional has been most use
    to you?

    Social services and the patient transport to the hospital.

    If you ran care services in your area what would you do
    differently?

    Giving people more choice.

    Name one thing that would make your life
    better?

    A decent wheelchair.

    What three words best describe you?
    Challenging, argumentative, sociable.

    What event most changed your life?
    When I had my care at home under care in the community. It was like
    being released.

    Has any government policy ever benefited you
    personally?

    The Independent Living Fund.

    If you won the lottery how would you spend
    it?

    I’d give most of it to charity for people who need care and their
    carers.

    What is your greatest achievement?
    Being the mayor of Islington in the year of the disabled in
    2003-4.

    When were you last angry?
    When my hospital appointment was cancelled after waiting weeks for
    it.

    Who do you most admire?
    Anybody with a disability who has to fight all the systems.

    How would you like to be remembered?
    As fighting for my rights.

    What is the most important lesson you have
    learned?

    Never give up.
