Which social services director once said nobody would ever see
his department scandalised in the press? None other than John
Bennett, director of social services at Northumberland, who made
the statement at the Association of Director of Social Services
seminar in Torquay this year. He was severely criticised for
misleading officials about pindown type practices in one of the
county’s children’s homes and quit on ill-health grounds. Scandal?
Na.
