New head of Edinburgh social work to oversee restructuring

Duncan MacAulay has been appointed interim director of social
work for the City of Edinburgh Council, writes Maggie
Wood.

Formerly head of operations, MacAulay has been appointed after
last month’s announcement that Edinburgh would undertake a complete
restructuring of the social work department following the damning
inquiry report into the death of baby Caleb Ness.

An early establishment of two newly proposed departments, one
for Education, Children and Families and one for Health and Social
Care Services is expected, with full implementation within twelve
months.
