For anybody who has a new baby this guide is a valuable
resource.

There is a lot of information and good practical tips such as
explaining the right way to breast feed, writes Kathleen
Franklin.

One problem with this book is that it is very thick and would
have been better spiral bound so that you don’t have to jiggle the
baby and the book at the same time. Some of the pictures do not
give you a clear idea what the writing is about and may be
confusing for a person with a learning difficulty. Others may find
that the writing is not big enough for people who have difficulty
reading.

The book is informative, especially for first time mums, whether
they have a learning disability or not.

Kathleen Franklin is vice-chairperson of Milton Keynes
People First, a self-advocacy group for people with learning
difficulties.
